Gran Piemonte

Gran Piemonte is one of Italy’s oldest one-day cycling races, first contested in 1906 and shaped by the varied geography of Piedmont in northwestern Italy. Its changing routes have crossed vineyard-covered hills, Alpine foothills, broad river valleys and historic towns, giving different editions markedly different sporting characters.

Around the Peloton explores Gran Piemonte through the region behind the race, uncovering medieval settlements, royal history, wine country and landscapes framed by the Alps. The result is a journey through a territory central to both Italian cycling and the political and cultural formation of modern Italy.
